Cool Flydown Trick!
OK, so I am totally stealing RaspyD's thunder here, but I think it's cool and knowing Tim, I don't believe he will care. We were hunting together a week or two ago and we are setup. He starts digging in his pants pocket. I said.....what are you doing???? He pulls out a Wal-Mart plastic bag He said watch this He grabbed both ends of the bag and pulled it tight back and forth very fast. It was the coolest........it sounded just like a bird flying off the roost I use to smack my hat on my leg to imitate that, but not anymore! Give it a try

If you stick around Raspy D long enough you might can kill a gobbler on your own some day !

Yep, works pretty good. I've been used and old dish towel for about twenty years, now I use a short piece of camo from the leg of a pair of pants sewn closed on one end. It also double as a cover for a turkeys head to keep blood off me when I'm toting one out. The plastic bag also works well if you put dry leaves in it if you need to make scratching sounds with not much movement.

I went to the corner to pick up some lunch and was sitting in the back yard playing with my bag. Sounded pretty good.
Put you plans in the nail scarred hands.

The bag works good, used a dish towel for many year working it the same way you describe. Now I just carry a gobbler wing in my vest and use it. The wing also makes realistic scratching sounds when scraped in the leaves. I like to flap it during a setup like hen adjusting feathers then go to raking leaves with it. A lot of dead gobblers liked it.
Re: Cool Flydown Trick!
Had a friend that had what he called a flydown flapper. It was a piece of camo about 14"long and 4" wide with a small piece of rope at each end. He used it to do the flydown just as you described and then it doubled as a strap to carry out your gobbler.

Here's your problem. If you are going to rattle horns together, you have to yell "Here turkey turkey turkey" as you are doing it or it won't work!

Does Raspy still climb up in a tree and jump out while he's flappin his Walmart bag to add realism? Those James Wood grads never were wrapped too tight!
Get there early, stay late, sit still and don't use weather as an excuse to stay home.
