Re: the number one most effective tactic for killing turkeys
agreed. the patient hunter will be more successful in the long run.

I disagree. I think awareness and decision making are the most effective tools for killing turkeys. A hunter could be the most patient person in the world and not have a clue what's going on around them in the woods...which leads to poor decision making.

I like overly patient hunters. Leaves more birds for next year.
Most important for me is paying attention to detail, and knowing how much patience to exercise.

The thing is, it really depends on the definition of "patience". Over the years I have slowed down some in some ways, and have seen success go up as a result. In other ways, I've become more aggressive, and have seen success go up.

Re: "the #1 most effective tactic for killing turkeys..."
Patience is great sometimes, so is making the move and kill. You gotta make things happen sometimes.
Re: "the #1 most effective tactic for killing turkeys..."
Patience means absolutely nothing if a hunter does not have the knowledge of where and when to apply that patience. Knowing your quarry and how it behaves, and then applying patience in the proper situations and in proper measure is the key to success.
