Glad that you got him and early to boot.
A friend of mine made a rookie mistake on his first turkey hunt. I called 2 toms of 700 yards across a cut corn field.
the toms came to my calling in the woods instead of going to the decoys. he was fixated on the dekes thinking the strutters would head there. He froze and wouldnt move when the toms started gobbling 15 yards from me.
well, we still wound up killing them a hour later. He learnt a lot that day
