iowa deer down

Post by Stinky J Picklestein »

It's funny...I can't feel scope-eye when it's 14 degrees with 20+mph winds. Wipe, bleed, freeze, repeat... :)

Nice buck. I would probably be bearing down real hard on the scope too if that guy was in my sights. Its a good thing you can't get ringed by a crossbow scope.

LOL! It was too dang cold to do some long-armed test shots. I outta let him down off the hoist, set him up in the backyard, and click off some shots at a upward angle silhouetted against the clear sky...with one arm locked on my knee sitting as far back as I can reach. "Look at my elk!"

Yeah, I was by myself. I have this elaborate system of leaning the handles of my deer cart on my tailgate, hooking my boots inside the truck bed, and heaving the body up over the lip. Once I get the front legs cleared, it becomes a LOT easier. The first time I tried it by myself (years ago), I didn't get my feet hooked properly. I got a 225+# field dressed body a little over halfway up when it decided it wanted to change directions. I couldn't let go fast enough, and it dragged me right off the end of the tailgate with it.
