First 28 gauge bird
LA's season opened this past Saturday and I didn't have much to go on. I heard one bird gobble one time at 7:45 the previous day. To my surprise, he decided to gobbled about 75 times opening morning and was dead before 7:15. I heard 4 other birds as well. He put on a pretty good show, strutting and drumming through thinned out pines until he met his demise at 38 steps. He had a 9-1/2" beard, matching 1" spurs and weighed a touch over 20 lbs. He was shot with a Franchi 48AL, flush full choke, slinging TSS 9-1/2's. I think I had just as much fun watching my sweet little girl play with him as I did actually killing him. Poor baby cried when I had to take him away.

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Thanks guys. It felt good to get on the board early, especially with the 28. That's an awesome little gun to tote.

Thanks, there's nuttin to it man. I honestly don't feel handicapped in any way with the way the little gun shoots. It's better than any 12 gauge lead or H13-6 patterns I ever had. I'm averaging low 240's @ 40.Shooter wrote:Great job with the 28! I ain't man enough to go that small yet.

There IS no handicap as long as you use T9's! Knocked one down-no flop @ 53 yds two yrs ago w/ that load.

That's the truth Doc! 53 yds! No flop?!?! Wow, thats impressive...but not surprising.DocHolliday wrote:There IS no handicap as long as you use T9's! Knocked one down-no flop @ 53 yds two yrs ago w/ that load.
I've always had a strong passion for the 28 gauge, never thought I'd be killing turkeys with one. I love it.
