22 years ago today!

Well it's hard to believe, but today in 1989 I started my career with the Virginia State Police. WOW, I'm getting old. If I can make it another 4 years, 279 days I will be eligible for retirement........but who's counting? The big problem is being eligible and be able to are two different things???? Oh well, guess I will just keep plugging along.

Being a trooper has its perks but it also can take a toll. Glad that there are men in this country who not only serve in our military, but serve by keeping the us civil.

It happens faster than you can imagine. I did 30 + with GM and the last 15 seemed to fly by.Retire when you can and enjoy yourself. You deserve it.

Keep at you'll get there. I just walked out the door today at 430 pm with 35 years pretty much done. 14 on the municipal police force and 21 on the fire department. With vacation I am done. Officially I have 35 yrs Dec 31/11. Man it seems like yesterday I was a pimple faced skinny little cadet. Came close to getting shot twice, almost got caught in a couple flashovers that were dicey to get out off and a couple of years ago a 100 lb propane tank levelled the back of a building minutes after we pulled out just to name a few but its all behind me now. Just gotta be carefull crossing the street now and maybe sneaking up on a turkey with a decoy held out in front of me.
