Saw a huge Gobbler Saturday

Post by Gobbler »

Well, This was opening weekend of muzzle loader in Florida. I literally spent all week pulling out the muzzle loader shot gun I won at a NWTF Banquet taking it to my local hunting store here in Plant City. Getting a lesson and some loads to hunt turkey with.

After hunting Saturday morning (with my 50 cal) I went to the club range and got the muzzle loader shot gun ready to hunt with. I was pumped.

Saturday afternoon I decided to move one of my climber stands before I went on the afternoon hunt. So I hustle into the woods and start taking the climber off the pine tree... "Yelp Yelp"

WHAT? "YELP YELP YELP"

Hey that turkey is coming my way. So I sneak out in the fire trail and look and here comes a huge Gobbler yelping. Then I hear another bird yelp back. So there he is and my muzzle loader shot gun is in the truck. WOW was I happy I broke my long standing rule of always carry a gun during hunting season even if you are filling feeders or moving tree stands.

20 yards at full attention, yelping and looking for his buddy. Doesn't even know I'm there.
I started to cry. :laughing6:

I'll carry a gun on work details for the next 20 years and this won't happen again. :thumbright:

I went with a buddy to his spot this afternoon....so I feel your pain. lol

After walking and calling and glassing we sit near a roost area. I keep hearing squirrels feeding behind us. I motion to my friend that we should get up and walk back as it was about time to unload my gun and his crossbow.

I stand up...putt putt putt...flapppp flap flappp flew right over his head.

He should have ducked, I could have shot...lol
Don't start none, won't be none!
