Gobbler Nation Inaugural Hunting Trip Contest!!!

Post by Painterchic »

I'm working very hard on opening up "Gobbler's Lodge", which will be catering to Spring Turkey Hunters and Fall Turkey and Deer Hunters. So here's what we're gonna do...

This contest will have 3 winners, and each winner will receive a 5 day/ 4 night stay for the winner and a guest at my soon to be hunting lodge, (must be consecutive days/nights). As of right now we're still doing a bit of remodeling, so you'll have to bare with us a little, but I don't want you to miss out on a GREAT hunting opportunity this year, just because the lodge isn't quite finished... I mean you're going for the hunting right??? So here's all the details...

The location of "Gobbler's Lodge" is in the heart of BEAUTIFUL Central NY in a little bitty blip on the map called "Taylor" which is on the eastern side of Cortland County. It's centrally located within the state and a fairly short drive from either Syracuse or Binghamton should you choose to fly in. I'll post of maps of the area as well as all the hunting land that is available to you to hunt on.That way you can do a bit of research on your own between now and the time you come up to hunt. This is all property owned by the State of New York and no private hunting land will be available. Trust me, you won't need it... There is PLENTY of land to hunt on. Over 100,000 acres within a 20 minute ride and over 10,000 of which is starts less than a mile from the Lodge. The turkeys are thicker than flies so if you don't come out of the woods with a bird it isn't because they aren't there, ya might want to check your aim... LOL Seriously, I’ve had them in the driveway many, many times…

Spring Turkey Season runs from May 1st- 31st in this area, your hunt can happen anytime you wish within the month of May. If all winners decide that they want to come at the same time so that they can meet and hunt together that's perfectly fine by me! Personally I think it would be a riot if that were to happen.

You will be responsible for getting you and your guest to my lodge as well as purchasing your hunting licenses and you will also be responsible for your guest, so make sure you choose them wisely! Not only are you hunting with them, you're sleeping in the same room with them, too... just something to ponder... LOL I'll be providing your lodging, which is barrack style, meaning there are 4 queen size beds in one room, and there will be also be a set of queen size bunk beds in another room. So you and your hunting buddy don’t have to be THAT close  , you’ll each have your own bed :thumbright: .

You will also be responsible for groceries ($125/person paid at least a week before you arrive) and your own alcohol (BYOB). Don’t forget to bring your own guns and ammo too. We don’t want stories of how you missed the big one because you didn’t have your own gun…

Prior to your arrival I'll do all the grocery shopping, so you won’t have to wander around looking for a place to shop, since you’ll be out in the sticks… I’ll be doing all the cooking and cleaning as well... so all you have to do is show up and kick back, relax and have a good time… The view from the lodge is amazing, it overlooks a 40 acre lake and if you want to practice your calling, you can hear the toms gobbling from the deck. I promise to feed you well and give you a great place to enjoy yourself and just get away from it all!

I want to do the random draw like with the lounger and use random.org again. Y'all pick number in sets of 10 and in two weeks on April 10th, I will pick the three winners!!

If this works out the way I’m hoping, I want this to become the Annual Gobbler Nation Turkey Hunt.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Tonia :turkeywave:

The lodge is where the red dot is on the maps. The green areas are public hunting land. The last photo is a view from the deck of the lodge.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

I'm thrilled to be able to do this... this is something I've wanted to do for years! I'm glad you guys like the idea of it. I really want this to be a great experience for everyone. I'm gonna have as much fun as you guys will! My honey is an avid turkey hunter too, so you guys will have someone to share war stories with...

I know you've seen this pic before, but this pic of my dad with his triple really did happen up there about a mile from where my lodge is located... He got all three birds with one shot although it wasn't intentional. He's since moved down here to Florida where I am now, so I don't have any updated photos, but he used to LOVE the first week of Turkey Season up there...
