I'm an occasional deer hunter. If I have a good'un on camera I might go a time or two and target him, so I guess I'd be a trophy hnuter both archery and firearm. How ever if I need venison I will go kill a doe. That happens about every other year.

Shoot as many as i have tags for as fast as possible to go back goose hunting with a firearm.. Albeit I do like hunting with a smoke pole, because of the snow and cold.

Right now our county is in a 12 county area for a QDM proposal.. I am against it, not because I do not believe it will work, or want to see better deer, but I do not believe they should tell us what we should shoot.. IF it passes I fill my antlerless tags with button bucks instead of does.

Run em with dogs. If I need meat I can shoot them in the yard. I love to hear the dogs run.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.

I'm a reluctant deer hunter. If I'm deer hunting, I'd usually rather be hunting something else. Game that is higher on my list of druthers: coon, rabbit, squirrel, swan, goose, duck, dove, quail, grouse, turkey.

You should not be allowed to have a hunting licence, it's because of people like you that they have QDM.

So the man follows the game laws and bag limits that the state/county set, and he shouldn't be allowed to have a hunting license? I don't get it.

If it's legal, what's the problem? I will shoot a button buck and eat it if I want one. I don't get it either????

I am archery with a little ML. Mostly trophy with bucks, but fill my doe tags.

I just pick up a fresh morning roadkill, the little spotted ones are the best, you can cut them with a spoon.

Button bucks always get run off their home turf by the does to keep interbreeding at a minimum.
We try not to shoot button bucks but if Does are legal and/or doe tags are available they are always brought into camp.
GobblerD's rules for not shooting a Button buck.

1) NEVER I MEAN NEVER shoot a lone doe over 50 yards away.
2) NEVER shoot a long legged DOE EVER!.
3) Only shoot Does in groups of three or more.( to compare size)
4) Never shoot a late season Doe to fill a tag. Unless it passes the above tests.

I kill plenty of does and haven't killed a nub since 1989.

All the above. I put half dozen in the freezer most years - we eat a lot of venison. I don't shoot yearling bucks. I try not to shoot 2&1/2 y.o.s. I usually kill several does with crossbow and ML, and then hunt for a big one with a rifle. Consequently, some years I don't kill a buck, and that's o.k. with me.

Does with bow, shotgun and Muzzleloader, unless bullwinkle walks by. No small bucks get shot, I let 'em grow.

I have two spots. One is mainly apple orchards and I try to shoot my does there. The other place has the potential to grow nice bucks.........until the yeahoos come in and "if it's brown it's down" and shoot em all. I usually don't shoot anything under an 8 pointer, but mistakes have happened. I am good with only 1 to 1.5 deer in my freezer since it' just me and the wife and she is a vegatarian. I do harvest a few extra does for friends and family members who like vension.

Oh yea, only ML & Rifle.
