Llama update

Post by Hobbes_mobile »

I tried my hand at shearing Tina today. I don't think she's ever been sheared. I didn't want to fork over the cash for electric shears, so I bought a pair of shears from Murdoch's. I'm not convinced that the quality is very good but they worked. I wasnt going for a professional look (good thing) and only trimmed her sides from shoulder to rump. It went better than I expected.

My wife is giving the wool to a lady that she knows that takes it from it's raw state and turns it into clothing.

Pedro will be next.

She's still shaggy, but I removed a 4" layer from her body.

You did good job!

Will be cool to see a shirt or something made you can wear with it

I suspect that she'll make something along the lines of a hat or scarf for my wife

Yes, she could be sheared like a sheep. I took it easy mostly out of concern for my lack of experience and didn't want to somehow clip an already spooky llama. Pedro may get a little closer shave, but he likes me more.

I wouldn't turn my back on Tina after doing that. She looks like she might be thinking revenge.

:LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO:
My bird dogs ended up through their gate and just across the fence from the chickens, turkeys, and llamas while I was shearing. Kassie, my female griffon, was shaking all over with excitement and ran right up to (across the fence from) Tina thinking she was finally going to meet this tall dog and make a new friend. Tina leaned down, the all but touched noses, then Tina parted Kassie's hair with a blast of spit. Tins let Kassie off easy and didn't bring up anything green, but it scared the heck out of her. She hunkered down looking terrified.
