For a couple of reason that I am not happy about, I didn’t get out at all this weekend
so I planned on going today unless it was storming. The weather Channel called for
rain all day &, so far, they’ve been right. It wasn’t raining at the house when I left at
05:30 A.M. but, by the time I got to my parking spot, it had started to sprinkle. It was
46 & dead quiet in the woods at 05:50 except for the rain on the roof of the blind. I’m
glad I but on my rain gear before I left the house!!
At 05:59, something rain past the blind, made a hard right, & headed to the swamp. It
was too big for a squirrel (too early as well) & too small for a yote so I’m guessing it was
a coon but didn’t really run like a coon. At 06:25, I saw a quick flash of movement along
the edge of the woods but didn’t see it long enough to make an ID, maybe a turkey or deer.
I did make a few yelps & purrs but nada.
At 08:20, I noticed something moving in the tall undergrowth. I thought to myself, self, I
though: “What the heck is that?” Two ducks emerged & wandered southwest. I have seen
a lot of geese back there but never a duck. I think they were black ducks but i wouldn’t
want to make a bet on it.
It had started to rain harder & I decided that, when if & when it slacked up, I would set-up
my small blind for tomorrow & call it a day. At 09:15, it let up enough that I got the blind
set. I headed in at 09:30 with the rain picking up & a temp of 44.
Tomorrow is supposed to start out in the low 40s but quickly get into the mid-to-high 50s with
very little chance of rain. I plan to sit just inside the woods on Silent Cal’s strutting path.
These pics from my trail cam remind me of a line from an old, favorite film:
"Alright, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."
Buck be gittin' nosy!!

I forgot to mention……..There were 2 deer along the edge of the field when I went
to set-up for tomorrow. They let me get within 100 yards & didn’t bolt until I turned
& walked away.

Nice pictures. Are you seeing any sign of turkeys where you are hunting?
