Ipe ( Brazilian Walnut )

Post by ccleroy »

A buddy sent this wood to me a few weeks ago to build a call for him. It is Ipe aka Brazilian Walnut and this piece came off the boardwalk at Atlantic City. Beautiful Wood, real heavy and extremely hard.....makes a killer copper call. Also had a piece of Gaboon Ebony laying around in the shop so I made him a nice striker to match the call as well. Hope you like it WM.

Nice looking call. Ipe dust is reputed to be toxic, causing severe allergic reactions in some folks. It is also loaded with silica. Be careful in sanding and wear appropriate breathing protection.

That Ipe sure is some pretty wood. I have a striker made from it that is a good one.
