Wisconsin public land recommendations

Post by Mossberg90MN »

How’s it goin guys! Hope you guys are having an awesome spring season!

I unfortunately did not get a turkey for my Minnesota season. So I’ve decided to head to Wisconsin which I hear has some of the best turkey hunting in the country.

Seeing that I’m coming from out of state, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a decent public land spot in south west Wisconsin?

Any tips would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

I can’t help at all. Lots of hills and lots of farmland in that area. Good luck with your search. Supposed to get 3”- 6” of snow on Saturday.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I’m going to be hunting the last week zone 3, been to zone 5. It will be my first time there. There are mapping apps for your phone that are very helpful. I also ordered one of those big state atlases that shows all public land.

It's actually a little worse than asking for gf's phone #. Contact the DNR and ask for kill reports from the preceding year and associated locations on public land. Gil

It's your first post. I have no problem giving long term members advice. But I do it through PM's. I've even sent folks coordinates or outfitters that are legit.

One forum of which I participate will delete any post that gives a location. No questions asked, it's gone. On another forum one well-intentioned member (young & naive; ok, dumb) mentioned a WMA and the location of a quail covey. When a mutual friend went there who already knew the spot, an out-of-stater was there from two states over having learned about it from the forum. Loose lips sink ships and honey holes. Gil
