Looking into the future
Looking into the future
How do you imagine turkey populations and turkey hunting 5 , 10 and 15 years from now?

Probably with some sort of walker or cane
Re: Looking into the future
Less habitat - West Nile virus- countered with less hunters future isn’t rosy in my opinion
Personally- physically I need some repairs so I can keep after em - 52 years chasing em this year; it never gets old and learn something every time out.

In 20 years I'll be 79, so I look for the population to rebound a little around here.

I can’t help but feel it’s grim. I know I sound like a broken record but with urban sprawl and continued exploitation of our timber resources I think wild turkeys in huntable numbers are threatened. I hope I’m wrong but it’s something I’ve thought about.... either that or leases and land ownership will be so expensive only the wealthy will be able to consistently enjoy it. I really, really want to be wrong guys.

I've been saving up some coin for a motorized scooter chair with knobby tires and a built in toilet, I don't like to sit in those damn soiled DEPENDS more than about 8 hours.

Don’t forget hearing aids
Re: Looking into the future
WHAT?!? J/K.
I did the walker thing when my pelvis was broken, it's definitely not the way to turkey hunt. I'm just a bit slower and not going up & down so many steep hills these days. I'll be 78 in 20 years...if I make it that long.
We will still need trees for paper/pulp products, so as long as there are tree farms with agriculture nearby, and predators are kept under control, there should be turkeys for years to come.

Just hope someone remembers me in 20 years. The turkeys will be fine.

Hopefully populations will at least remain the same or increase where needed. It'll be interesting to see if TSS is still a popular shell from the big manufacturers and how they will affect hand loaders supplies.
As far as equipment and tactics I can't imagine a lot of changes but you can say that every year and something changes.
Hopefully gun and hunting laws don't change in a negative way toward hunters.
