There were more mallards on the Brokensword today than geese.
I am still amazed by the colors of the drakes. The coloring of the
hens is well adapted for their roles as nest sitters. There are some
hens in these pics that I didn’t see at 1st as they blended in with
the branches & grass hanging off the creek bank. It won’t be much
longer before they start to set up “house Keeping.”

Gotta love wild Mallards. Have you ever photographed any banded birds? Do you ever get Black ducks passing thru?

Nice pictures, nice to see something that isn't froze solid, 31 below here tonight again, with 50 below wind chill but going to warm up tomorrow with a high of 10 below.
