Yes Virginia, There Were High Winds in Central Ohio This Past Weekend

Post by HunterGKS »

Last weekend, 02/23 – 02/24, 2019, there was a pretty strong, prolonged wind storm
in central Ohio with sustained winds of 30 MPH & gusts of 50+ MPH. There was a lot
of tree damage & some areas were without power for quite awhile. Luckily, the
damage around the area where I live didn’t get hit too badly. It was a lot worse south
of here.

The 1st 6 pics were taken at Aumiller Park. Most of the clean-up work has already
been taken care of & the rest of the downed trees will probably be left as they are.

The last 3 pics are of the metal roofing removed when my old barn was taken down.
They had stacked it in 2 piles with some heavy 4”x4”x5’ pieces of wood on top to
hole it down. Obviously, it didn’t work. I won’t be re-stacking it until it warms up
& the wind lays.

In southern Ohio it doesn’t take much to knock the dead ash trees down.

Both "my" turkey woods have a lot of ash. Every year I have to chainsaw
at least 1-2 trees of the 4-wheeler trail. I'll get back there late this month
or early next to check it out.

I hate to think of what "my" woods are like. I'll be checking the 2 turkey woods late this month
or early next & my deer & squirrel woods probably in June.

I haven't seen a lot of damage close by but south of here, in the Columbus area,
it was preet bad with some structural damage.
