Best way to clean strikers and pot calls
So my 2 year old got ahold of some strikers and pot calls this morning to do a little preseason practice. Nothing wrong with that. He did a little experimenting with to see if the calls played better after dipping them in his greasy bacon and eggs. .......Somebody help me, lol. I think he got all my strikers.

I use the green Scotch Brite pads & always carry a couple of squares.
If the greasy eggs penetrate the call and/or striker, you may have an reversible
problem. Maybe someone has an idea for that?

I hit everything with dawn detergent right when I found them. Maybe they’re fine but we’ll see tonight. Had enough grease on the tips to render a freshly conditioned call unplayable.

May have to take a liter and burn the tips..
I have had to do that when accidents occur

Denatured alcohol then use green scotchbrite

This is good advice.

Soak the tips in alcohol for a day or two it should pull all of the grease out.

Boom. Got a plan now.
Re: Best way to clean strikers and pot calls
Alcohol works, but acetone will work better w/ a shorter soak time and faster evaporation. Lightly sand w/ 220 sandpaper after drying, and if the striker still won't run, go back to the acetone. Not only children inadvertently impart oils on striker tips, novice non-hunting adults have a penchant for rubbing their oily fingers on the tips of strikers.

Do what I told my brother to do about his son; Go ahead and take all your good stuff and break it now, to ease the pain of when your kid trashes it.

I would not soak!!! Soaking may take all the natural oils out of the wood causing it to warp or even crack. Just a couple light cleanings of denatured alcohol will do. No residue with denatured alcohol!
