Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Post by HunterGKS »

At lunch today, my BIL told me the birds were in the same field as Tuesday only further south.
So on the drive home I looked & they were still there. I only got 1 pic that was half ways decent.
There were 11 birds.

I drove a bit further & saw 2 birds just off the right side of the road. They flew across in front
of me & into the trees on the left side of the road. I looked right & there were a few more in
the field. (pics 2-5) There were 7 birds with at least 1 gobbler.

I crossed Bethel Road & spotted these 4 gobblers walking across the field on the right side of
the road. I think I have permission to hunt that strip of woods a little further north where it
joins a strip of woods running east-west. This is the same spot where I saw a huge gobbler
strutting for a normal hen & a smokey a few years ago.

I think all these birds might be from the large flock I saw Tuesday. Either something broke
them up or they're starting to break up into gobbler & hen flocks.

I made a right hand turn from Bethel onto Wickham & saw a bushy in the road eating salt.
It ran to a large tree & sat there watching me. I spotted another 1 & took 2 pics through
the windshield before it ran to a tree & also sat there watching me.

Only thing missing today were deer.

The round pic of the "gobbler" is actually a bearded hen. I saw the beard & stopped looking until it was pointed out to me.
