Any interesting Christmas gifts?

Post by Hoobilly »

Mother-in-law bought me a bell-Howell 10x magnifying lens for my for iPhone. Actually works ok.

Nothing turkey hunting related this year sadly. But that’s what happens when they think you already have to much stuff :LMAO:

I got exactly what I asked for...A Field Co. #10 cast iron skillet. It's amazing how smooth the inside is. It passed the egg-slide test, with a little butter, 15 minutes after un-boxing. It usually takes a good bit of "seasoning" before that happens. I am super impressed.

I don't know. I've never seen a commercial for Field Company. They seem to be a small company. They only make 3 cast iron skillets...that's it. They are definitely on the higher side of cost for a cast iron skillet, but they are head and shoulders above typical Lodge stuff.

I think the interior of the pan is machined for a smooth finish, then seasoned twice with grapeseed oil.

Man that sure sounds like the company I seen a commercial for. They showed the process on how they make them and I was impressed.

machined finish was part of it

I just got home from my Christmas & 25th anniversary gift. My wife and I gave each other a scuba diving holiday to Ambon, Indonesia. Fortunately, it was a long ways from all the tsunami, volcano, and mudslide activity around Java and Sumatra. Diving the Ambon area was really good. On the second day, we had a school of 35-50 hammerheads pass within 20 feet of us. There were too many to accurately count. Just a wall of sharks passing down the reef that we happened to be there to see. It was one of those Discovery Channel moments that will be tough to top.
