repairing rubber boots
Hate spending $200 on boots every couple years..
a cheap pair I bought for mild weather has developed a crack and water soaks into the insulation. I used a adhesive inside the crack to fuse it back together. Also thought that maybe the Flex Seal spray on crap they advertise on tv might be something to spray over the top of what I have done to seal it. anyone on here ever used that spray on Flex Seal????

Re: repairing rubber boots
Flex seal is just more junk on the market, I tried a spray can and within no time the sun turned it to cracked hard powder. Neighbor farmer got some and sprayed it on holes in his grain bins, same thing cracked in the elements and fell off. Cheap pair , were the some fine ginsu chinese stuff ?

the cheap pair is the black ones from Tractor Supply Store. 400 thinsulate. Expensive ones are the Rockys 1000 thinsulate.Grumpy wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2018, 11:23 pm Flex seal is just more junk on the market, I tried a spray can and within no time the sun turned it to cracked hard powder. I’m gonna look for a sealer that won’t harden and crack.

Aquaseal is where it's at Brother! Mainly used to repair wetsuits and waders, but works well with boots also. Don't leave home without it.

Re: repairing rubber boots
Rubber boots are junk. The last time around I tried the Redhead brand warranty. The manager tried to give me a hard time, but their warranty says they'll swap out anything. I stared him down and walked out with new boots.
Re: repairing rubber boots
I have never slipped a rubber anything on any part of my body and my 19 kids with my first wife and 3 kids with my second wife is proof of that and there may be a few unaccounted and unclaimed out there too..

Muck boots and Aquaseal (atsko makes that!).
Although I’ve never had to aquaseal any of my mucks. I’ve had several pair I rotate with (2 pairs of each style - cool chore, early season, mid, and late/arctic!). Haven’t worn any out but the chore cools. That’s Bc I wear em 24/7 in the off season. My feet destroy em having been surgically altered so many times.

I actually had good luck with flex seal. Alot of times I drag my duck decoys over dry land in a jet sled and than float on water. Well I developed some holes, flex seal it and it was good as new.

Re: repairing rubber boots
There is a flex seal that’s for boat bottoms. But I’m positive that the flex seal sold in stores as seen on tv isn’t the same thingICDEDTURKES wrote: ↑November 4th, 2018, 11:03 pm I actually had good luck with flex seal. Give me 30 minutes in the sheep barn with 4 Amish women and all 4 of them gals will have a smile on their face along with the sheep ewes, probably not the ram but depends on how much wine the old hides feed me I suppose..........

Re: repairing rubber boots
Shoe goop, plumbers goop. All work well on rubber boots. Rough it up a little with 80 grit sandpaper first. It won't be pretty but it will seal a leak. Good to glue soles back on too.
Re: repairing rubber boots
Agree with the 60 grit and also rub some 91% rubbing alcohol on the area too.firedup wrote:Shoe goop, plumbers goop. All work well on rubber boots. Rough it up a little with 80 grit sandpaper first. It won't be pretty but it will seal a leak. Good to glue soles back on too.
