I have Blackstone's green slate and it is a killer, probably the best sounding slate I have ever heard. My next investment will be Halloran's Metal Mouth II, it is plum full of turkey.Turkinator wrote: ↑June 5th, 2018, 5:39 pmI used a Blackstone green slate and a Halloran twisted sister on almost every hunt this season.turkeyinstrut wrote: ↑June 4th, 2018, 10:18 am Blackstone also makes some awesome pot calls that are very reasonably priced, here is a link to their Facebook page.

Green Slate by Blackstone is a goodn foxhole. Kaiser's aluminum worked in very windy and rainy conditions and helped me seal the deal in Ky this springturkeyinstrut wrote: ↑June 5th, 2018, 7:21 pmI have Blackstone's green slate and it is a killer, probably the best sounding slate I have ever heard. Not being an avid pot call user and never having owned a custom call, I looked through all these recommendations. I realized that Lights Out is right in my county here in Arkansas. I called up Wendell and will be going to check out his shop next week. Small World. I don't know enough to buy a call online and feel comfortable with my purchase, so it is great to find a place I can go directly to and meet the man that makes the call.

Sure a fine looking call. Can you tell us more about it?
Re: What pot call do I need to buy right now
If you want something "nice" to look at and sound good, any of the custom calls mentioned are fine. If you just want a cheap turkey killer...the knight & hale pot calls are great. I must have over 25 custom pot calls... but it's the cheap production calls that actually kill the most birds for me. Here are a few good ones on sale for less than $15.00

This one is a stabilized spalted birch pot. I also offer in a non stabilized wood. When I make a call, the pot needs to be dense, if it isn't, I stabilize it. As for the sound, there is no sound a hen Turkey makes that can't be done on these calls. This past season I called in 6 birds in 2 states with it
