New member hello

Post by spider316 »

Hi everyone, just wanted to say hello. My name is Wayne and I live in Western Mass, yes, West of the CT river. Joined a year ago, but waited to say hi didn't want to step on any toes. Looks like a great group of people here. Hunt mainly in MA and N.Y., and with my 11 y.o son as much as possible. Started him at 3 1/2 y.o with me goose hunting. Turkey hunting is a form of religion for me, more than once I've spoke to the good Lord himself at sunrise while listening to Turkey's gobbling. Hunt hard and hunt safe everyone, Wayne.

Welcome. This is a great place. I grew up in Western Mass (South Hadley) and hunted and fished all over that part of the state. I go back to visit family and old friends and hunt turkeys every year. Had to smile when I saw the "Western Mass". Reminded me how we all make that distinction to avoid confusion with the eastern half of the state. It is really more like South Vermont. :)

Haha everyone, thanks for the warm welcomes. Killed my 1st in 1990, it's been a run ever since. I used to get so worked up on the night before opening day, I would break out in hives. I still get worked up but not as bad now that we have a month long season and N.Y. goes to May 31st. Maine just closed on June 2nd BTW. I'm a second class shooter, 20 gauge with federal heavyweight 7s. There is 1 thing I love to do and that's put a gun together for Turkey's. I reloaded my own H.S. for waterfowl for a while, actually gave hawglips a bunch of left over wads I had. Once again hello everyone !

Raps, guy got shot in the back during the 1st week in the cornfield right above Brunelles Marina this year. He lived but has about 30 pellets still embedded in muscle and fat.

Heard about that from my sister. Happened just before I got there. I was told it resulted from a hunter taking a shot at another hunter’s decoy. Glad to hear he will be “okay”. Need to get MA to allow smaller shot sizes. I’ve sent them comments in their surveys.

I'm sure, just like the taffy. Have family in Centerville and Dennis. I know very well about the Salty problem Turkey's.
