Memorial Day.
Memorial Day.
As we start the Memorial Day weekend please remember why and what we are celebrating. I had the privilege to shake the hands this week of a retired Navy man as well as an Air Force vet and an active duty Army man. The Sailor beamed with pride and said very matter of fact "Best country in the world" Amen to that. Have a blessed and safe weekend.
Thanks Dad.

Re: Memorial Day.
Well said, Red. The Veterans of our great Country are all hero’s. We owe them more than we can ever repay. The freedom they won for us is priceless. Let us not become complacent and/or take this for granted. We are so blessed to live in The U.S.A!
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Re: Memorial Day.
Great post Red. I take the time in a store restaurant or bar when I see a fella in one of them veteran hats to go thank them, some are shocked I think. Not enough respect and praise for them. Most these millennials probably don't know what this day represents
Re: Memorial Day.
Let us be clear...Memorial Day is to remember those who died in service of the USA. Veterans Day is for showing appreciation to all veterans.
Too many folks overlap the 2. I, as a veteran, do not want to take up any of the glory that these men and women deserve on THEIR day.
Here's to those that paid the ultimate price for our great nation's freedom!

Amen to that. If people would just stop for a moment and think what price was payed for us to live in freedom.I cannot thank those (personally) that died and that saddens me.Thank you MKW for your service. My favorite Marine went to be with the Lord a little over a year ago.Rest in peace,Raymond Nicol USMC.MKW wrote: ↑May 25th, 2018, 11:30 am Let us be clear...Memorial Day is to remember those who died in service of the USA. Re: Memorial Day.
Mike, thank you for the respectful recognition of the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran's day.

Thanks for “politely” reminding me of the difference between the two holidays..
If I was king, all veterans would have the day off (paid of course) on Veterans Day. That’s the least that we could do.

My post was not intended to call you out and I'm sorry if it came across that way. It happens a lot and I just wanted to point out the difference.Hognutz wrote: ↑May 25th, 2018, 1:29 pmGuilty as charged!!MKW wrote: ↑May 25th, 2018, 11:30 am Let us be clear...Memorial Day is to remember those who died in service of the USA. Actually, it's not a bad mistake to make cause it's never a bad thing to recognize that freedom ain't free.

Re: Memorial Day.
No calling anybody out here, Mike. I sincerely appreciate what you wrote. I was, indeed, mixing Veterans Day in with Memorial Day.
On the other hand, on Veterans Day, I often think of the fallen.
It’s all good!!
