I was told it could take forever. That’s why I’m going to Mexico. 👍🏻

Prior to colonization, practically all of the range of the western sub-species was within the claimed territory of Mexico. The fact has nothing to do with wanting to make a challenge of hunting within the modern US borders. I just found it interesting.

My friend Josh is an expert on stats and info on drawing hard to draw tags out west and so i asked him recently about draw odds for spring Goulds in Arizona. In brief, he told me that draw odds for AZ residents is very very bad, for non-residents, even worse, far less than one percent of a chance.

Mexico is our only realistic Goulds option apparently. I am going to start working on my Spanish!

Unless things have changed in the Arizona drawing system, my understanding is that to even enter the drawing you have to buy a non-resident hunting license that costs about $150, I think, and is non-refundable. You can get two bonus points each year for that $150 (spring and fall), but it costs you another $150 for the next year,...and so on. I think there is also an application fee, as well. It doesn't take too many years of applying there 'til you might as well just go to Mexico.
