How many of us hunt gobblers the wrong way?

I do.. apparently

Sometimes I use decoys. Sometimes a blind. Use TSS and occasionally hevi7 duckloads and have tried the Longbeards

Hardly use a box call cause I ain’t good at it.

Cadence sucks with a mouth and or a slate. So
I resort to bushwhacking as needed. I’ll even crawl in a muddy field in a downpour to get close to a gobbler.

Who else does what it takes to kill a gobbler the way he wants to die?

Yup, and if you do it different I don't care unless you bugger the bird I'm on.

I ditched all my turkey cheaters. Now I ride around in my truck and shoot them out the window when and where legal. I can even use a rifle in some states, and most require I be a certain number of feet of the road and turn my motor off before I shoot to stay legal.

Apparently you are doing it wrong. I'm somewhat perfect in the way I hunt turkeys. :toothy7:

Seriously, I've bushwhacked one. I didn't set out to do it that way, but it happened to work and I was in the woods to kill a turkey, soooo...
I've set in a blind exactly twice, one of those being with my grandson.
I don't usually use decoys but admit it's fun to watch them come to dekes when it works.
I shoot Hevi 7's (till I run out) and I too have poor rhythm on a box call but I've managed a few kills using one. But mouth calls and slates work OK for me.
I've shot turkeys sitting, kneeling and standing, and once while pretty much laying down. I've shot a few left handed when the setup required it.

I'm there to kill turkeys so when the gift is given, I usually take it how I can get it.

After reading other people’s techniques I feel like I do things wrong too but then I reflect back on all the turkeys I’ve killed by calling in nice and close.

Think I’ll do what has been working for me

Exactly. Others find themselves frustrated that it’s not working out for them, but too dumb to change what their doing

The only time I hunt wrong is when I go home without giving a bird a ride in the back of my Lean Mean Ram pick-up machine.
Problem is, that seems to happen more often then when I hunt right.

When you make it to 73 years old you hunt them any way you can and not give a rodents rear what anyone thinks.

Personally, the "right way" for me is to just wander around aimlessly in the woods until I find one that is hell-bent on committing suicide. All the rest of them can just stay there as far as I'm concerned.

Me too. Figure if I'm there eventually I'll trip across one ready to go.

To each his own is my motto! Hunt, fish, success is in the eye of the beholder. If a scrub buck, doe, big 12Pt or hens and Jakes or big spurs make them happy so be it whatever makes a hunter happy is fine by me.

Not in my book. If, at the end of the day you’re happy, who really gives two sh!ts what anybody else thinks! When I’m in wheelchair, drooling all over myself, there will be hunts that make me smile and some I will have simply forgotten about. It’s the ones that make you smile that will linger in your memory. Again, other than yourself, there is no one that you need to impress... Amen. Would you lease pass the hat!!

I like them willing participates.. but the ones that run and hide I really like to shoot

some people care what others think

I know some who mimic the style of other hunters and will only hunt their way,

I kinda roll with how it unfolds and let the hunt teach me what is the wrong way. I figure out the wrong way most times than not :LMAO:

Getting spanked is part of the hunt. It seldom goes the way you’d expect. The birds you think are untouchable come in on a rope and the ones you think are a slam dunk make you look like you never hunted before. Some times it goes the way it’s supposed to. You never know, until it’s over, how it’s going to shake out. Guess that’s why it’s called hunting and not shooting.
