Being the best in the world at a singular task

Post by trkykilr »

I think it is really cool for someone to perfect a craft and truly be the best in the world at that task. Cally Morris at Hazel Creek Taxidermy has done that. He is the best turkey taxidermist in the world.

For those that weren’t in Nashville, the Gould’s turkeys that our group killed at El Durangueno last May were on display at Cally’s booth. I am going to include some pics, but they could never do the mounts justice.

There are some things you should never try to get out cheap on; toilet paper, skydiving, and taxidermy

Great looking mounts.

Hazel Creek really does good work. I'd venture a guess that Cally Morris himself probably doesn't do all of the mounts, at least not beginning to end. Not to take anything from them, but if you are willing to search, there are quite a few guys that are putting out crazy good work that is as good as Hazel Creek. I think Cally was a pioneer in really high quality turkey mounts.

very nice pics, I especially liked the oscellated. at one time I thought I might become the best banjo picker in the world and I probably got close. then one day, after 6-8 hours of daily practice for 15 yrs, I got tired of playing. I did enter 5 major contest and placed 1st in all 5 in the pro division.

He is good no doubt but if you look most of his work still has the smooth breast. There are a few guys that are also world champs that are doing the shingled breast now ! All good just depends what you like.
