Youth hunt

Post by ICDEDTURKES »

As many of ya know, sal and I don't have kids. But every year we find a way to take others on the youth hunt. Like many of you were not huge on deer hunting, but taking youth is different.

Sal's bil owns a farm, so he being a farmer, working endlessly, we told her sister we'd help her getting the kids out.

After having 3 Frost's and highs in the 60s, we were greeted by a 60 degree night and a high of 85. We took Chelsie in the morning. I was concerned as she just broke her finger, trigger finger. We saw 4 doe and 2 bucks, none presenting a ethical shot.

The day before we drove the farm looking for a spot for a pop up. We both knew immediately where one needed to be, the outside rows we're chopped on a field abutting a huge chunk of timber. So after the morning hunt we quickly brushed one in. I told sal this maybe perfect as most likely gonna do the Tim Allen "URUUUUGH" as it snaps it's neck to see what this mix of corn and Golden rod is giving us time.

So with the Sweltering heat we arrived with Alana at the blind at 545. Not having seen a deer at 645 I decided it's time to pee, before it got good. While mid stream, sal says quit doing what you're doing and I had to shut down mid stream.

What happened next I am so proud of. Sal's normally a basket case guiding her nieces and nephews as she so badly wants it to go perfect. In a cool manner she got Alaina, out of her chair, got her to another window and got the sticks up as the buck did the Tim Allen lol

Meanwhile I still have my dong out the door and hear Alaina 3-2-1 BANG. I zip up to see she dropped um in his tracks. The emotion that came through all 3 of us was awesome. We decided to snap a few pics and get out to save the blind for Chelsey.

So proud, these are good kids, that give you hope for the future, they hunt raise and show animals for 4h and love living on the farm.
