My parents live about 10 miles East of Plant city. Hopefully it will turn North earlier than later.

I've seen a couple FL tag RVs wondering around the backwoods here in GA. Guess they're gonna boondock in the forest. That's what I used to do when I lived down there. If it looks like its gonna hit mid-GA bad, I'm gonna pitch a tent in Kentucky!

If this one is as bad as they claim.. :violent3:

Wow. I had to travel on back roads in GA for about four hours today for work. FL tags wandering around BFE at low speeds. Accidents in the middle of nowhere. These people must be lost. Why that woman doing 45mph brake checked me and honked when I passed I'll never know.

I had to take a back way to avoid my small town to be able to get home. Crossed I-75 on a bridge with no on/off ramps. NB is a parking lot.

Interesting part is the lack of campers in the ONF. Camping on the Ocmulgee and catching shoal bass on the fall bite would sure beat sitting on I-75. Urban dwellers are in a mess!

We cancelled out trip to Northern KTY for Sun-Tue so Irma could come and go .. as I sure didn't and don't wan to be driving in that mess :geek:

When all this weather get's cleared out, I'll head to MI to go goose huntin' with my buddies there!! Interesting that they are getting along quite well without me in the mean time ;)

I lived in Brandon for about 25 years about 12 miles west of PC & worked in PC for 3 years at Dixie Growers.
The area suffered a lot of wind damage back in 2004 when 4 hurricanes hit the state within 2-3 months I think.
I'm glad I'm not down there now & hope everyone gets out safely with little property damage.

I moved up here after those 4 storms to avoid that kind of stuff so a tornado touched down about 15 miles
from the house Weds.

I remember that stretch of back to back to back to... hurricanes down there. I was living in Gainesville. Ground got so soaked trees just fell over. My strategy for dealing with hurricanes down there was to schedule a work trip out of state whenever I saw one coming. I figure people really aren't supposed to live in those kinds of places, so I just didn't.

I've had more tornadoes come close by living in mid-GA than anywhere else I've lived. And there's been a few earthquakes. Hmm.

Hope all of you Florida folks stay safe. Friday at noon I-95 was a parking lot near Savannah with Florida folks heading north. I went under 1-95 on Ga. 21 at noon and 630 pm and it was still a crawl. The choke point is where 95 crosses the Savannah River into SC where Georgia's 3 lanes funnel into SC's 2 lanes each way on 95. We were in Irma's cross hairs until yesterday when the predicted path shifted westerly. Gil
