Old Calls Hunting With

Post by MAK »

What's in your vest that's got some age to it!

I carry:

Glass Friction Sanderson Pot call - 1995
Slate Friction Sanderson Pot call - 1995
Albert Paul Box - 1996
Ben Lee Box - 1972
Ralph Pelmar trumpet - 2000

I rotate some others, but these go every time along with a handful of diaphragms.

Old Hunter - old toys - ha!

Lynch Fool Proof box call - 1985 (Very first turkey call I ever bought)
HS Strut owl hooter - 1985
And I have a Preston Pittman Black Diamond diaphragm call that I have used for probably 20 years or more, has been the demise of many many gobblers.

I can't hang. You've got one older than I am. I didn't really start hunting gobblers until the mid-90s.

Calls in my vest usually don't last long. So the oldest calls I've been able to keep up with hang around my neck. A Mark Sharpe wingbone from 2013 and an MKW Trumpet from around 2010-2011, not sure because it's not dated.

I carry a 30 year old QB Easy Yelper. Dirt simple call that the vast majority of them weren't worth the 15 cents worth of wood that it took to make them. You had to look through about 50 of them to find 1 good one but when you found one they work VERY well. I wouldn't be surprised if that call has close to 300 gobblers to its credit.
