Hen Down!

Post by HuntSource »

Yep, I killed a hen with a 4" beard. It seems that we have more than our fair share of bearded hens on our place. I've always left them alone, but this one was pretty cool.

Beautiful bird. We see those on a occasion in WNC. Had a flock on my property about 5 years ago that had two silverphase hens in it. Have never seen a male that color.

College Grove.

It's actually been a really slow season thus far. Last year, the toms were many and hot as well. This year, there was a little activity in the week just prior to the opener, but it was way off the norm. I had only one workable tom over the weekend. Additionally, I have seen very few toms working fields anywhere near our place.

Uranium deposit? I'm just jealous. I've shot way too many gobblers just because they were following the real trophy.

Thats a nice bird! Think the late Lovett Williams called that a smokey coloration . Wish, I could find one of those in New York.

It's a Canary pot with a ceramic surface made my friend Gary Anderson of Daybreak Custom Calls.
