Some more perspective

Post by trkykilr »

I have posted here about Jacob and his journey in this forum several times over the past few years. SC's 2017 youth day was another opportunity to add to Jacob's portfolio of memories, and it didn't disappoint

We were offered the opportunity to hunt a beautiful piece of turkey infested property on the banks of the Black River in the Pee Dee of SC.

After some light roost gobbling and a few responses on the ground 2 hens came into view. They fought the DSD hen and fought each other. The commotion had the gobbler coming hot on a string when 2 Jakes entered stage left. They joined the fracas which further upset the longbeard. The spitting and drumming were as intense as I've ever heard as he approached from behind. When he arrived on scene an all out brewhaha broke out with the jakes at 10 yards. Jacob somewhat calmly waited for them to separate and fed the gobbler a load of TSS 8's at 10 yards. Lights out.

Such an awesome and humble young man. I can't express how much my relationship with him has brought to my life. He's just special and makes everyone around him better.

He qualified for one more youth day, so hopefully we can make it happen one more time.

Congrats to both y'all. It's great to hear that he was able to stay composed with all that was going on. I know some "mature" hunts that would have soiled themselves in that situation or, at the very least, shot a jake!! :LMAO:
