TSS 6's

Post by trkykilr »

So, Hart and I are headed to Ontario to hunt later this week and we are loading TSS 6's to comply with their laws. We will both be shooting Remington guns. Any advice on chokes? I shoot my 8.5's out of a super full Remington factory choke.

I would just buy some longbeards if I had to shoot TSS 6's. What about a 9x6's mix? :D

2oz load..

1 3/4 of nines and a 1/4 of 6's makes it legal in my eyes

I try to stay on the right side of the law especially when I'm in a different country!

I killed one in RI using 2.5oz of TSS 6s in my 10 ga and one at 60 yards in ME using 2oz of TSS 6s in my 16 ga with a Sumtoy .599 choke. Boozer and I checked pellet count and it was only 133 pellets and ounce, but when they hit they will do so with authority!

Simply make the inquiry as to whether magnum blends would be considered legal there if they are then you will be fine with a duplex load of TSS.

There are no numbers on any of my clocks below 8. Then all of a sudden, 2 days before turkey season they appear. Then right after the season they disappear.
What's up with that

Oh I understand the wording of laws created before mag blend was created. However if asked I bet they would say cause it contains 5,6,7 shot or 4,5,7 shot it would be fine. So TSS with 6,8,9 should also be fine. :angel4:

I would absolutely load 9s and label them 6s. But in answer to your question, I would think a factory full would do just fine.

I'd like to know too, and also would like to hear what kind of numbers you got with your patterns. Congrats on your birds and on figuring out a way to make the 6s work. I don't plan to use them on turkeys, but they could be a lot better dead coyote load than the Dead Coyote load. :)

I tried a factory .690 and an Indian Creek .665. The IC patterned way better.

I counted the pellets: 133 in an ounce. I got 134 in the 10" circle with the IC at 40 yards (I didn't count the 20) with Hal's 3" 2oz load. I ended up hunting with the 3.5" 2.5oz load as I got about 20 more in the 10.
