New here

Post by ncturkeycaller »

New member here, just wanted to say hi from NC. I joined here because there seems to be a lot of folks on another site that frown on us that load tss. I can't for the life of me understand people that think extending your killing range is a bad idea. Hell, I like to kill em at 20 yds as much as anybody but I also love to shoot em at 60 if that's what I have to do. I know my gun and I know my loads and I have done extensive patterning tests with more chokes than I care to admit. Anyway, glad to be here and I hope that us hand loaders are welcome here.

You will be openly accepted here. I don't make a lot of posts but I do read a lot and TSS is the main topic. What part of NC are you from. Richmond Co here.

I'm in Person county. Tough season around here. Our numbers are way down. Don't really know what the problem is but it has gotten to the point of being critical in my opinion. 25 years ago my county and Caswell were just covered up in birds. These were also two of the counties in NC that birds were trapped in to transplant in other areas of the state. I have my fingers crossed for a couple of good hatch years but I'm not holding my breath. I have a close group of friends that are on a quest for the Royal slam so we have started doing quite a bit of traveling. If it wasn't for that, this year would have been horrible. I have personally hunted turkeys in 14 states and I will have to say that this year in OK was the most fun I've had with my trousers on!
