Went to kansas
Managed to hit the weather just perfect. Missed the whole first day of hunting due to hard rain, 40mph wind and tornado warnings.
Glad I got the trail rated Jeep SUV rental. I feel sorry for the person that ends up with that vehicle.
Picked some pot pur ee to help out with the smell in the old house we were staying in.
First day of hunting called 1 up for my buddy he made him dead then we hung him in a tree and moved a few 100 yds. It was so windy you could not hear yourself talk hardly.
Heard a gobble in the wind about hour later. Moved a bit and found out he was about 150 yds from us
Had him dead within about 20 minutes of messin with him.
Next day I watched one with some hens for a while then about 10:00 I decided it was time. Called him down a field edge and kilt him. Tried to get on another one the rest of the day but never found number 2 for my buddy.
Decided to start saving gobbler stones again and right after I told my buddy I had heard of people finding weird objects in their gizzards. I found a shot wad in my number 2 bird gizzard.
It was fun.

Re: Went to kansas
Noice! What part of the state did you hit?
Re: Went to kansas
What you have sir, is some of the finest Kansas ditchweed. This hemp was planted during WWII as part of the "Strategic Reserve" of materials necessary for the war effort and has been planted by the Mid-West states for game bird shelter belts and the high nutrient content of the seeds. Several years ago I obtained a pack of "wild game seed" from a friend who was Nebraska Conservationist of the Year for several years, and lo-and-behold, my wife accused me of growing "dope" behind the house. If you want the damndest headache you've ever had, give that ditchweed a burn. Good job on the hunt!! That is one of the prettiest Rio's I've ever seen.

Re: Went to kansas
I was north west of Hutchinson
Thanks on the congrats it was fun
I did a bunch of research on the hemp
The majority of what I read claimed it was the original Asian strand that went west with Asians as we were building railroads and stuff to the west.
That is interesting about the shelter belt stuff in the 40's. I will look into that also.
I did read that it has become extremely hardy, drought tolerant and insect tolerant and some people cross breed it with some of the crazy strands of medical now to increase the hardyness of their plants.
I know it has a very low THC level and would not be sought after by recreation or medical uses.
However, I would have to guess it would be a great strand to produce rope, soap, and all other hemp uses.
Going to black hills next week
Never been there before. Hope to complete a single season slam or 2
