#2 for the year
#2 for the year
I went in Saturday morning not knowing if a bird was in this location or not. I had seen some tracks in here way before season. Well I slipped in to a old loading dock right at day break, nothing. I just stayed there waiting to see if I could hear one off somewhere. Well I didn't have to move far this guy gobbled just 150 yards from me. I hurried up got set up made 2 calls within 5 minutes here he comes down the wood road. He gobbled about 10 times on his way to me. I thought he was around 30 steps so I took the shot. (870 20ga TSS #9) Well he was a little farther than I thought stepped off 42 steps back to my tree. I believe in the TSS but I'm just not that confident yet. Turned out to be a great day. Didn't get a gobbler last year and had 2 great hunts in the same week this week. He had a 8" beard and 7/8" spurs.
