4 sounding off this morn

Post by hootn »

i got up and went to my best little spot and when i get there and eased down in the woods road get almost to the small green field stop. i had thought i heard one while slipping in. alot of traffic on the county road by this place. well at 0541 there are 2 birds gobbling, of course on others man land. however its only 20 acres. then a few minutes 2 more sound off. 3 of them gobbled 1 or 2 times the other one about 10 times. i did not carry any call. the temptation to call would have been too great. i will say that this is the most sign i have seen in there for the last 2 to 3 years. as i was cleaning a spot out that i can sit by i could have heard one drumming. so this fool is ready. bring on the 15th of march

That sounds great. Looking forward to an update with a kill photo.
I'm hoping to get out to listen before our April 9 opener, but I'm looking at a 3hr drive or more unless we draw a special permit close by.

Central bama.

Scott... I have hunted bama 3 times and never did kill one.. first time I went it was my first time hunting turkeys I was green as grass.
2nd time I only had a couple days.

3rd time weather sucked so bad with rain n lightening it was hard hunting in the mid day after the storm stopped.

Glad to see you on here

When Brian came down last spring, the best 2 days was the first morning and last one. And at this same spot the birds didn't say a pep. Saturday thru monday hunted the forest only heard 1 bird. Rain came in and rain , did I mention rain. Also I should have killed 3 more off of it. 2 of them saw me move my finger to turn down the holo site. Other one, well I ain't talking about that one. Let's say I was sick about it. :banghead: :angryfire:
