My New Ride

Post by hookspur »

Well, after 301,000 miles it was time to trade in the old Sprinter for a new "Mobile Turkey Killin' Unit." I opted for a Ford Transit. It's a bit smaller, but I really like it so far (just got it yesterday). All it needs is one of Doug's, "In Loving Memory of All the Gobblers I've Killed" stickers, but he gave me one at Nashville so it will soon be outfitted and ready to go. Headed to FL in 3 weeks. What y'all think?

btw....I had a couple cancel their hunts last week. Anybody needing an Osceola? PM me if interested.

Why's everyone in these forums commenting on my weight? Y'all are starting to give me a complex. I've got on about 3 layers of work clothes in this picture, but I'm 40 pounds lighter than I was at this time last year. Or, maybe it's just my big gut that makes me look fat....... ;)

All joking aside when I was in my 30sss, I loved mine to spend the weekend at the races or the week turkey hunting somewhere.
I made a shower out of an old metal pump sprayer, my grandfather's old coleman stove and a porta seat sitting out in the woods.
What more did you need? I took that thing deeper in the wood than any engineer ever dreamed of taking it.

Love it

Congrats on the new ride. If memory serves, I rode to dinner with you in FL in that Sprinter when it was brand new! That's been a few years. Safe travels in that Ford!

Did that sprinter have the 5 banger Mercedes engine?

Yes it had a Mercedes 5 cylinder diesel. She purred like a kitten, and I got about 22 mpg average. I'm gonna miss that and the extra 2 feet or so of storage space, but Ford didn't offer the longer version unless I ordered an extra-tall van.

Yep my boss man owns 2 of them, they run like a top.
