One Thing Leads To Another

After talking to a fellow member here today I decided to get my mouth calls out of the refrigerator and run a couple. I usually don't do this until the day before season opens. I went to the fridge and my container that I carry my hunting calls aren't there. I think great, there probably still in my vest and may be ruined. I went to my closet to look in my vest pocket for my calls. Well, no vest to be found. My boots are usually in the same closet, no boots there either. I thought dang I better go to the gun cabinet. I do and there is my gun, with no choke. I had forgotten about it but now I remember where it is. I sent it and some others to a buddy in KY this summer to try in his gun. Looked for my shells and their where they are supposed to be. So as of right now my vest, hunting mouth calls and my boots are MIA. I have no idea where they are but at least I have a couple months to find them. Now I just need to remember to look for them. If your like me you may want to take a quick look to see if you know where all your turkey stuff is at.

Well Ronnie, You know the memory is the 2nd thing to go & I'm sure you've also forgotten what the 1st thing is.

Yes, that would be much appreciated. And I think I'll run a string through them like my wingbone and carry them around my neck so I won't lose them.

You have other calls. You can probably get by without a vest. But I wouldn't shoot that gun without a choke...

I usually go down in basement and check my stuff out every couple days

That's the first place I looked. I lost them for two weeks during turkey season one time. Couldn't find them anywhere. Had given up. Then I pulled into one of my parking spots on a piece of property I hunt, and their they sat. I guess I took them off while sitting in the car, then just spun around in the seat and drive off. I'm bad in normal circumstances, but add on a couple weeks of sleep deprivation and I'm apt to leave my truck and walk home.

I know exactly how you feel. I spend more time looking for hunting gear than hunt. Same for tools and working.

Don't feel bad, Ronnie. Couple springs ago I found an 835 lying in the grass at a parking spot. I can only assume some sleep deprived guy, perhaps looking for a pair of missing boots, leaned his shotgun against the back of the truck, and when he didn't find his missing boots, simply got in, and then drove off...

This story has a happy ending. I dropped the gun off at a state police barracks, and trooper later told me the gun was claimed couple months later!

It really doesn't matter how it wound up there....it's gone now. But since the dementia has set in, I'll remind you as to why it wound up there...it was a pain in the a$$ and you'd given up on learning to play it.

It made a happy hobie, though!! Good luck finding your stuff, unfortunately the only thing you owned that I know the whereabouts of...is your Morgan Call!!

Don't feel too bad, seems like every year I load all my stuff in the jeep a few days before season, then can't find it when I need it. Just yesterday I found a face mask in the back seat that went missing in April
