Stu Wright is at peace

Post by allaboutshooting »

My good friend Stu Wright, Wright's Gunsmiths and Wright's Chokes, passed away this morning. He fought a courageous battle and held strong to the end.

Stu was a fixture on the trap shooting circuit for many decades and each year at the Grand American Trapshooting Championship. He was a gunsmith to many of the great trap shooters of the last 30 years.

He showed all of us who knew him how a man should handle what life sometimes hands out to us. He was loyal to his friends regardless of the cost and never failed to defend those who needed it.

He spent countless hours and much of his own money to start a shooting team in the small town of Pinckneyville, Illinois. He furnished guns and ammo to kids who otherwise would not have had them or the opportunity to shoot. From very small beginnings the teams that he coached won national scholastic clays titles. http://allaboutshooting.com/article_inf ... les_id=781

He was a good man, husband, father, grandfather and no better friend could be found.

He died way too soon and he will be sorely missed.

Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,
Clark

My sincere condolences to Stu and his family.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I had the privilege to meet him a few times at the Grand American trap shoot. He and his wife were both very nice people.
If my memory is correct, I think I bought a gun from him there, I know a buddy of mine did.

Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers.
Stu's memorial service will be on January 2nd and even in his death he was thinking of the shooting sports. It was his request that no flowers be sent and that donations instead be made to the Pinckneyville Shooting Sports fund. He died the way he lived, with his thoughts on the kids who benefited from the shooting sports.

Thanks,
Clark
