First cool weather of Fall

Post by Shooter »

Been in the 80s for quite some time, so todays weather was more than welcome.
It was 53 at 1:00pm today, with a little rain. Even put my sweats on to mess around outside.

Was getting hot in the daylight hours but by sunset it was always back down to low 60's, been like this for the last month. Now cloudy with drissel rain and highs in the 40's, snow in the higher elevations tonight.

Got the same cooler weather yesterday, but it's still raining. Been raining forever here. Had Jaoquin blown in we'd been in a world of hurt with the ground already saturated like it is.

Been in the 50s the last few days but the wind has been really strong making it feel like the low-mid 40s. The wind makes it hard to squirrel hunt.

Finally started to cool down here yesterday from 80's & 90's for highs and low 70's!!! 53 this a.m. also .. nice break from the heat, but then we get all the "added extras!! :violent1:

Naturally with all the heat, only 2 3/4 " of rain for June, 1.15 " for July, and .95 " for Aug.
Finally 1" the 1st week of Sept., so in goes my food plott(planted in dry as a bone soil) with good rains predicted and we get 1/4 " on the 9th, just enough to germinate part the seeds .. then hot & dry so I don't know how many seedlings made it or how many more that did, that hadn't germinated yet??!! :?
Last Thursday the 25th, we finally had 7" of steady slow rain up to this last Thursday morning!!!! Perfect till Joaquin's threat.
Had 1 1/2 " yesterday a.m., 1 1/2 " this a.m., and it appears we're right in the storms path, with a lot more to come!!
Water, water, runnin' evferywhere and not going to be of any value!!!! Flustration at it's best!!
ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts??

We haven't quite dropped down into the 30s yet, but we've come close. The truck said 40 when I left for work yesterday. It feels good when the wind isn't blowing.

I sat in the stand for 4 hours on the morning of our bow opener and it was the first time in a while it felt like fall ! Was 39 degrees when I got to the stand and the wind was rocking. Didn't see any deer I think even they were caught of gaurd by the weather change and decided to stay in bed !

I'm showing 33 outside right now. We had a good frost this morning. I drove through a skim of ice on the puddles on 9/27. Like Grumpy said, we have some snow at higher elevations.

Snowed here yesterday but just stuck to the grassy areas, every where else melted as soon as it hit. High 70's for this weekend but I don't think I'll be going antelope hunting , way to warm for me to have to deal with one the same day it is shot.
