Golf with Dad

Post by CamoMan4025 »

Well, this doesn't have anything to do with turkey hunting or hunting at all, but oh well. My Dad asked me to play with him in a Rotary golf tournament on Tuesday. Heck it was a free round of golf and a day off of work. My Dad will be 75 in a few weeks and it makes you realize, none of us are getting younger. It was hot as hell, but we had a good time. I often think that he won't be around forever so I need to take advantage of the time we have. I hope each of you take the time to spend with a loved one as much as you can.

Take care,

Kevin

I know ya' had one heck of a great time and was fun for everyone involved

Headed to Galtinburg for a few days for our 44th anniversary, in another week, & my wife & I will play 18 at the Bent Creek Golf Course. It may be best ball or probably the "Afflack Duck" version!! :LMAO:

You got that right Kev!!! My father and I had so many things planned, but kept putting it off.
Fishing trip to Canada, Elk trip out west, visit his old stomping grounds in Alaska when he was stationed there in the AF.
Fishing for Speckled Trout and Reds in the Gulf. We never did get to do any of those trips, and now it will never come to pass. :banghead: I took him fishing and hunting as much as possible after he had his fall from a 24' ladder.
It took 3 years to finally kill him. The first year he was still able to do a little, but his brain got much worse soon after.
Here is a pic of a big ole Bass he pulled out of the top water weed fishing, and his last turkey, which I had to help him hold the gun up.

Dam,... I would give anything to turn the hands of time back!!!
Lily and I was doing some fall cleaning in the house today, and found his old thermos we used while hunting from when I was around 8 to 14 years old, before he finally got a new Stanley. I got choked up pretty bad just remembering the old times we shared with that old thermos.
Lily was gonna throw it away with the two old cups that go in the cap,... I look at her with a weird face, and say, I don't think so!!

Hey Kevin,

I'm glad you had that time with your Dad. You're right of course, time passes and opportunities lost may never return.

The picture really says it all.

Thanks,
Clark

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Ha, considering we both don't play much anymore we will consider it a draw! It was actually a Captains Choice or Best Ball tourny.
