Now that's the way to get after them Mike!!! I remember a bird about 4 years ago. Had to wade a swamp up to my waist a couple hundred yds, but it paid off.

Congrats on a great bird! I've never seen one of our turkeys wade like that. They just avoid such situations.

These swamp turkeys spend their lives around lots of water. Nothing surprises me anymore. A couple of years ago, I saw a gobbler come off the roost and land in 6" of water. I thought I had him that morning, but nope. Have had several fly across a river 80yrds wide to get to the call too. It's pretty crazy.
