Check your Wal-Mart
Was in the Wal-Mart last night and went to check out the sporting goods.. They must be phasing out some of the Sawyers stuff.. They had the Sawyers Maxi-Deet bug repellant for 1.98.. Most bug sprays are 15-25% deet and this is 98%.. Stuff is the real deal!!!
Re: Check your Wal-Mart
Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye out next time I am in there.

I buy my permethrin from drugstore.com and save my gas. It's cheaper as well. I'll buy 10 cans every 3 years or so and shipping is free.

I thought you would be BIGGER
Re: Check your Wal-Mart
I use Duration permethrin concentrate http://travellerssupply.com/cat_detail. ... uct_id=418 .
I don't soak my clothes in a bag like they suggest, but instead spray it on heavy in the morning, then let my hunting clothes hang on the screen porch until its dry. I never got the first tick, chigger, or mosquito bite over the last several years in the turkey woods. I also hunt right beside a swamp where the bugs would carry you off if they got the chance.
Duration lasts through five washings and 6 weeks before it needs to be applied again. Between Duration and a ThermaCell, it is like having a force field against bugs around you.
I got Plasmodium falciparum malaria from a mosquito bite in Palawan, Philippines in the late 1980s that damn near killed me. I've never been so sick in my life. I'm also lucky it wasn't the P. Vivax strain, which keeps recurring, but it is not as deadly. I travel to the tropics every year and have swatted mosquitoes in some pretty dank places for a lot of years. I treat my clothes with Duration before I go and it works like a charm. You don't think about mosquitoes being a life or death situation around here, (because they're not), but when your life depends on it, you find something that works. Just sayin'

This is why I make my own permethrin spray. Ain't no way I'm paying $9 for $0.25 worth of permethrin. That water they water it down with must be expensive.hoobilly wrote:funny you posted this..
