Daddy-Daughter Duck Hunt
I took my son (5) on a hunt with me earlier this year. When my daughter (3) woke up and asked where we were, her momma told her we were duck hunting. She sat in her bed and cried because I didn’t take her too. So I promised her a hunt with just the two of us.
Ducks have been spotty at best all season and things have been slow all week. But I guess God wanted this daddy-daughter hunt to be extra perfect, because the ducks showed out in the timber this morning. I had my 1-man limit by 6:45. So we ate snack bars and star crunches and watched ducks work in while she blew a drake whistle at max capacity.
My cup runneth over.

Hell yeah dude, good for you guys. Ducks have been terrible for us this season, but our resident geese keep us well fed.
My favorite hunting of the year are the ones with the kiddos. I am happy for you brother

Please, please, please enjoy it. They grow up way to fast, your gonna blink and she gonna be tying up the hair and checkin makeup before she goes the next time, and you'll be wondering where the time went. Thank you for the great pic and story !

I'm not sure why but I've not been able to see a lot of the videos posted lately. I see a scroll bar at the bottom of the post and a blank area above where I'm assuming the video should be displayed. Maybe it's my phone.

I have the same thing in my phone, Hobbes. No video. Not sure why? Videos do not show up on my iPhone.

Priceless. Reminds me of my daughter's first squirrel hunt 35 years ago, except that instead of a mallard whistle, Leslie was squeaking a squirrel call and shaking bushes for all she was worth. She enjoyed it so much I had a hard time getting her to be quiet long enough to hear a squirrel barking.

I too don’t watch many videos. But this one has the perfect content, and the right length. I watched it two or three times. Well done, and I hope y’all get to share many more days in the blind.

I added a regular URL link for the video. Probably something about the way the other one is embedded that is throwing off some people’s phones.

Re: Daddy-Daughter Duck Hunt
I appreciate the kind words. Since I had kids I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about the best way to introduce them to hunting. It’s going really well so far. On the boat ride out from this hunt she looked up at me smiling and said “Daddy, I can’t wait to tell all my friends about duck hunting with you.” She didn’t ask, so she probably thought the tears were just from the cold wind hitting my face. There are a lot of hunts I won’t forget, but this one is at the top of that list. I’m really glad I remember to bring my real camera. I got a couple pictures soon to be framed.
