Just saw that today. I thought it was interesting that these showed up just as we are hearing that Federal is dropping the HWT. I wonder if it is the same source. I'd sure be interested in loads for those states that don't allow anything smaller than 7s.

I too was wondering if it was the same shot Fed loaded. Neat to try some out and bypass the fcw.

What would be a good place to start when loading these? Interested in loading for sub gauge to make duck shells. Just not sure what kind of data to use.

They probably expect people will extrapolate from their ITX data...

Could you load these 15gcc sevens with the same load data for the 18gcc tss without changing pressure or velocity.?

I'd say probably not, my guess is the outcome would be catastrophic. :bom:

NO! If you use 18 gm/cc data, the same weight of 15 gm/cc shot will have more volume, creating a taller column of shot. A taller column of shot will have more bearing surface and will increase pressures substantially. If the 18 gm/cc data has low enough pressure, you might get away with it, but you are waaay off the reservation. Don't do it.

What size tss would be the equivalent, penetration wise, to the 15gr/cc 7's ?

TSS 8.5s would be the closest with slighter better penetration from the TSS (2.48" vs 2.4" for the 15 gm 7s @ 1200 fps and 40 yds). TSS 9s would be 2.23".

Thank you, Trying to decide whether to start handloading the 7's or tss. I have been very satisfied with the federal hwy 7 in my 20 affinity. Are 8 1/2 fairly available, don't see to much chatter about that size. I know most will say just use 9's, but I'm stubborn, gotta be different
