I see via Facebook that Federal has released the TSS loads and prices. No 20 ga in #9 shot is listed just #7 shot. Just a FYI

Brice, I'd say the reason behind the #7 shot size is that a lot of states has that for a minimum on shot size for turkeys...............What are they gonna do cut one of my shells open and check the shot size??? :D  :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: :walk:

I'll stick with the Federal Heavyweight 7's, they seem to do the longer range trick for me and with 1 tag a year in this area I just can't see using anything else.

Hope you have a few boxes of those stashed away. I heard they will discontinue the HW7’s

I may try a box if price is justifiable, still have a good number of hws, but will definitely be testing longbeards this spring in the 20.

Thanks for the reminder to find a hunt club. If anyone knows of a large acreage lease in the Mid-GA area, I'd appreciate a PM.

If anyone can screw up TSS, my bet is Federal will give it go. :blackeye:

I think you all will be pleasantly surprised with how these loads perform. We shot the 12 ga #9's from different guns and different chokes from factory improved modified to factory full with great results to 50 plus yards. I imagine with some tinkering, one would get even better results but 50 is plenty far enough for me since I rarely have shots at birds farther than that. :D

You'll start seeing all the info in a few days. There's a spec sheet floating around FB. I don't have mine in front of me but believe the loads range from 1100 - 1200 fps.

Speaking of commercially available ammo, I see where Nitro has solved a problem that didn't exist by coating its TSS with a "special" coating to prevent barrel "scoring". Gil

They can keep them for $9-$10 per shot for 12-gauge (assuming 5 shots per box).

Yea, they had to because of the wads they are using.

They could really drive the .410 market but the price point is not there.

Hal it says that the 410 doesn't have the FCW, not sure what they are using for it.

There wasn't room for a FCW in the .410 shells so they're using a standard looking wad in them. Here's more info on the new loads. https://www.callingallturkeys.com/blog

I talk to them. They have changed to a softer wad in 12 and 20. Now I think that may be more trouble then good. The 20 wad was ok the 12 was way to hard and I think to big around. (.730) If they get to soft you will need to tip toe around the set up. That wad opens one of the side wing/stop/ ???? you want to call it and shot has not left the wad it slings them. They take them out and let the back of wad slow it down they do better I think.

Now the 410 will stay the same normal wad.

Now the marketing is what I want to see. They told me they get over 500 in 10 with full choke. I just went along with him. Told him I test them when they came in.

Me too. But that’s mostly because of what I have on hand. If I sling only half of it at turkeys, they’re in big trouble. And, probably me too if I get caught.

However if I was to buy some off the shelves, the Federal loads look to be better more affordable than any other shells you’d find at a bricks & motar retailer. Gonna get interesting to follow...
