Hevi-shot
Re: nevi-shot
Would that x be considered a 10 and this be a Hevi-10 density pellet?

Re: nevi-shot
Yes, not even the density of lead. High 9's.
Re: nevi-shot
if its cheap enough and in a 25 round box...
it might be better than regular old steel

Don't quote me but their hevi steel years ago was 9.8, it was a great waterfowl load.
But going through a couple cases a year and the fact I hate the company, I switched to Fed Blue Box

I don't take waterfowl patterning that serious, big paper, shoot, duck can't get through that, g2g.
Heck by the end of the year I'll have what looks like a skittles bag. Blue, red, green, maroon lol

any serious fowler has their ammo bag looking like that for sure. I want to kill a few ducks and geese this year and will be using my Benelli 20ga and hoping to find a viable goose load. I have plenty of hevi7 duck loads and will use them for mallards etcICDEDTURKES wrote: ↑August 20th, 2017, 7:12 amNo 12.hoobilly wrote: ↑August 20th, 2017, 7:04 amI have never shot the federal blue box. patterns good?ICDEDTURKES wrote: ↑August 20th, 2017, 6:52 amDon't quote me but their hevi steel years ago was 9.8, it was a great waterfowl load.

For something different this year, I am gonna give a go at Divers. Bought two green kayaks and have so many 80-200 acre lakes within 10 minutes that hold themhoobilly wrote: ↑August 20th, 2017, 8:10 amany serious fowler has their ammo bag looking like that for sure. Only shot them a few times, but loved it. Figuring I can get by with 3 dozen dekes on long lines
Iffin y'all don't hear from me in November, probably dumped a kayak in frigid water and died lol

For a goose load in 20ga I use winchester experts in shot size #4. Kept my shots inside of 40yds and make sure to center pattern on head and neck. My girlfriend even used them and pulled a triple on big canadas last season.hoobilly wrote: ↑August 20th, 2017, 8:10 amany serious fowler has their ammo bag looking like that for sure. Dang, y'all got hairy geese?

Re: nevi-shot
ICDEDTURKES,
A couple of tips. Start your longest line out about 80-90 yards from your shooting position and place a few decoys which show a lot of white, ie. Canvasbacks, Goldeneyes at the outer end of the line. Use the J-hook spread with a small wad of decoys at the bottom of the J where you want the divers to ball up prior to landing about 20-25 yards in front of you. Get a black/white flag and use it vigorously whenever you see ducks. Keep a handful of swatter loads in your pocket for cripples and reload w/ the swatters without taking your eyes off the downed ducks and finish them off quickly, since you won't be able to out paddle them. I always set a few puddlers and a couple of goose decoys off to the side 10-20 yards from the bottom of the J w/ landing room between the puddler dekes and the J. Save your calling for the geese and puddlers and rely on the flag for the divers. Stay dry!!

I'm going to try a 3/4 oz load of 8s this year for ducks and geese out of the 20ga.
