Ill keep loading my own too.
I suppose Apex and Nitro will do ok. Its a nitch market only because thousands of guys just wont spend the cash. Especially when they watch hunting shows where they are killing birds with those LB's all he time.

I feel supply and demand will be the down fall. It would go if folk can keep up. I get folks ask me all the time how to get it or load it. Now I think Nitro has best chance of doing it because his past experience and name. Don't waste money giving it away and pimping it. I would think it will take very deep pockets to be able to supply what it will take to keep up. Think about other shell companies. Do they change components because can't get or they try to save money.

I'll definitely continue to load my own. When I see my kids pull the trigger I know I've done all I can to ensure that they are sending a great load after the bird. Plus, they help load so it's satisfaction for them too. It has become a part of turkey season for us. As long as I can get components, I'll never buy a loaded round.

I thought turkey hunting with 20 gauges was a small niche' but man is it catching on. TSS is following. If you will pay $5 for hevi or HW, you will pay $8 for TSS IMO. I feel like many will buy the loaded shells vs the components and time required to load their own.

So how is apex or nitro going to shut down the Tss market? Or is it just Apex that has the capability to do so? I am pretty confused by this .

I'd guess that less than 5% of hunters currently loading their own shells would switch to the new factory loads. I'd think their target audience is people who don't wanna learn how to load them, and I think they will do very well.

I'll just stick with my drama-free Federal 3" 12 gauge Heavy Weight #7s. (Oh...Wait...There is an "expert" that says these shells won't kill a turkey so maybe I'd better reconsider. :dontknow: :dontknow: )

Good luck to all you reloaders.

I handload unfired plastic hulls and reload brass shells with TSS. For me it is the equivalent of tying one's own trout flies, which I also do. I don't consider either a money saver. I have more in the cost of components and reloading devices than I would have in buying shells on the market. I have more in the cost of fly tying equipment and materials than I would ever spend on finished flies. However, I am not at the mercy or whim of Federal or Orvis to make my desired loads or fly patterns obsolete or unobtainable. The cost and satisfaction of being independent is immeasurable. Fun, too. Gil, Isn't there a point in time where you turn the corner & start saving money by DIYing? Several years ago, I got tired of spending money (costs seemed to go up each year) to get deer processed & not being happy with the results & not knowing if I got my own meat back. I bought all the equipment to process myself. Within 4 years, I had saved enough to pay for the equipment & don't spend all that much on spices, casings, etc each year so I am money ahead.

BTW, Do you use red or fox squirrel tails?

George, I can't say my hobbies are effective at lowering costs. They do, however, lower my blood pressure. ;)
I read an observation that once a hunter or fisherman passes a grocery store or KFC on the way to hunt or fish, all practicality is lost. I've had true southern fox squirrel tails that I used at one time, but none of my pet patterns call for them. Thanks for asking. Gil

I don't doubt that Apex will put out a good product, but I don't believe they can produce a better shell than what guys on here load

I've seen first hand the patterns Apex loads shoot, and they are real good, but no better than the ones I load.

I am sure the product is as advertised. Some of their loads are loads we shoot already. And they perform great.
