Is there an easy way to remove the retaining nut on the Forend of an 870, 20 gauge? I see special tools for the 12 gauge, but nothing for the 20 gauge.
I want to change my wooden Forend for a synthetic Forend.

I have used a really long screw driver. Takes some work, but can be done

I have also used a pair of needle-noses. Spread them out real wide, drop the pointed ends in the slots and turn slowly, holding them in the slots firmly. The nut will back right out.

May have to use hammer and screw driver to loosen first. Then the needle noses.

I made a tool out of a copper plumbing sleeve and a grinder and file. I did find 1 on Amazon as well.
