SA-28 choke type
I'm thinking about picking up a Mossberg SA-28 youth model for a turkey gun project and I'm curious as to which type of chokes fit this gun. Thanks

Mobil
Indiancreek has 520-525 constriction for them
With the Foxtrotammo 28ga load it’s been a impressive lil gun. Just got mine in and will be patterning it after turkey seasons over

Indian Creek 525 as hoobilly said. Very Impressive! I tried Carlsons & they sent me a tube but it didn't fit until I removed the black oxide coating & they argued with me about the threads. It's a mobil choke thread per Mossberg & everyone else but for some reason Carlsons thinks different. I just sent it back & got a refund, ordered an Indian Creek & glad I did.

Re: SA-28 choke type
I received a IC 525 with Mobil threads and it doesn't fit, goes in about 2 threads. Called Mossberg and they said the SA-20 used the Mobil, but the SA-28 used the Huglu??? Any suggestions.

Mine screwed in perfectly. I have sold approximately 10 of the 525 and like 5 of the 520 Mobil’s and they thread
One feller has to send a overly tight 520 back to have it touched up to thread correctly

Re: SA-28 choke type
Yes, it goes a couple threads and then it won't go any further
Re: SA-28 choke type
You should call them, then Send it back to them with A note so they can correct it for you. IC makes some good chokes.Luvbohuntin wrote: ↑May 15th, 2020, 1:06 pm Yes, it goes a couple threads and then it won't go any further
Re: SA-28 choke type
Hmmm...I called Mossberg & they told me the 28ga used mobil choke! I had the same problem as you except with Carlsons & they argued with me about the threads. I worked the tube by hand a turn then lube then screw in then lube etc etc until I got the tube to seat. Had another tube that just wouldn't go in after 2 threads. Carlsons asked for the tubes back with full refund. Called Indian Creek & they sent me a tube. It works! It works great! I talked to them about the problem I had with Carlsons & they sent a tube for the SA-28. Like others said I'd call Indian Creek. They're good folks & will figure it out.Luvbohuntin wrote: ↑May 15th, 2020, 11:28 am I received a IC 525 with Mobil threads and it doesn't fit, goes in about 2 threads. Re: SA-28 choke type
Thanks everyone, I called them and they are working with me to get this straightened out. Great customer service.
Re: SA-28 choke type
Was this ever resolved? According to multiple sources it sounds like there were a couple runs of these guns with both styles of threads. Some huglu and some Mobil

Re: SA-28 choke type
All of the ones made in the last couple of years are Mobil
Mossberg SA28 is definitely the Mobil choke

Re: SA-28 choke type
Yes they resolved the one I sent back. They had to cut the threads a little deeper, fits good now.
